Juggling Parenthood & Marathoning

How do y'all do it?? When Lena-boo wakes up at 2-3 am for a feeding, I am DRAINED! I haven't run in weeks. I thought I would try the half marathon this weekend, but I've been skipping meals (also not hydrating) because I've been so busy tending to her & I went back to work in the afternoons. So hard trying to establish a routine right now!

Maybe I'll see you all next weekend. Happy training everyone!

Hi Kim:
There is nothing quite as wonderful as a new baby and there is nothing quite as fatiquing as taking care of a new baby. Add work to the mix and it's a whole lot to say grace over.

You have to figure out what works for you, but the running will be there when you get to it. The baby will constantly be changing (and need changing!). You don't want to miss it by overdoing on all levels.

Do remember -- opinions are like belly buttons. Everybody has one but you have to make the best choice for you.

Take care,
Debra

I agree with what Debra said! But, the work that comes with having a baby and establishing a new routine is the best time of your life. You will never get those moments back. Cherish them. No matter how exhausted you are. I actually miss those 2 a.m. feedings..... I never thought I would say that. Running will always be there. Your baby needs you!!!

But you also need to remember to take care of yourself. EAT!!! In all that busyness sometimes us Mommy's forget about us, but you do need nutrition so you can be healthy for your baby! The best of luck to you and your new family! Christmas is coming up soon and it will be the best Christmas you have ever had!!!!!!

It does get easier, and your marathon training will come in handy! We found a book titled: "On being baby wise" really helped get the little ones on a schedule. Keep the pics coming, and enjoy every second.

Ditto what Debra and Mandy said, with the exception of the 2AM feeding. I do not miss those!

I have decided to wait until '09 to try Chicago again because the twins are getting older and I want to do more stuff with them.

Take care of yourself. I kept granola bars, and easy-to-grab snacks around the house so I could eat something thru the day while running around with the twins.

Hope we can see each other in the future. Love to meet little Lena Claire.

It's done "By God's Grace". I took care of two(one yr apart---felt like twins), AND worked full-time night shift. Uh, I don't recommend that:---)....
But, like everyone said, you don't want to miss anything. Last week I looked up, and my "babies" were 15 & 16!
Take CARE!
BTW, I still work nights. Feel free to call anytime you need inspiration.

Great to hear from you! You'll have it all figured out in a month or so, THEN IT CHANGES...thus is the life of the parent. Nothin' is better than the parenting experience, though...ENJOY.
